Our story
How Neon Orca was founded
Carly started learning to play PLO in 2024 and wanted better tools to learn with. With her background building software, she started making homebrew tools to study the game faster.
As she was pitching Chris — her poker bestie — on the beauty of PLO, she also floated the idea of turning those tools into a company. Chris had ideas on how to make poker training tools more user-friendly and stepped in as co-founder. The rest is history.
Chris and Carly live, breathe, and eat poker and Neon Orca, with a vision to bring communities together through the great game of PLO.
Meet the founders
Carly
This Canadian just really loves data—a quirk her friends playfully tolerate. After earning her master's, she led product teams in robotics and helped scale a startup to a $1.2B exit, before pointing her analytics obsession at the poker felt. Half a million online hands, a two-year run with the Wolves CFP, and a few high-stakes stream appearances later, she's now blending that love for poker with software. She splits her time between Vegas and Colorado and can often be found off the grid, exploring mountain trails with her dogs.
Chris
Driven by a love for exploring new cultures and connecting with strangers, he is a globe-trotting creative whose roots span Guam, Chicago, and Silverdale. After paying his way through school dealing blackjack on the graveyard shift and studying 3D animation, he went on to build immersive worlds at Retro and Bluepoint Studios—bringing massive titles like Donkey Kong Country Returns and the Demon's Souls Remake to life. True to form, he will still travel anywhere there's a great meal waiting.
